Samaritaine
Les Grands Magasins de la Samaritaine was a
wondrous department store stretching over four blocks
in the heart of Paris. It closed in 2005 and is currently being restored as a
mixed-use development;
hotel, apartments, and a 'small retail component'.
It is hoped that the new Samaritaine will retain
the tenth-floor viewing deck, from which
one undoubtedly got the best views of Paris. As this has been closed since 2005,
forgive the
fact that these photos are not originally digital, but scans of old slides.
